The vast majority of automotive paint finishes are what are referred to as “basecoat”, which means the actual colour of your car, the basecoat, is coated with a “clear coat “ this clear coat is what provides UV protection for your basecoat, it also provides gloss.
How you maintain this clear coat is absolutely crucial to the appearance and longevity of your cars finish not to mention future resale value.
To cut costs many manufacturers are applying thinner and thinner clear coats in the vicinity of 40 microns which is about half the thickness of a sheet of A4 printer paper which only leaves approximately 5-10 microns for future restoration before the clear coat can become unstable resulting in clear coat failure.
Only available to selected professional detailers, ‘OPTI-COAT’ is a PERMANENT aftermarket thick ceramic clear coat applied on top of your existing factory applied clear coat, this allows ‘OPTI-COAT’ to effectively absorb damage that would otherwise affect the factory paint layers. Bird/bat bombs, swirl marks, light scratches, chemical etching is not only decreased or eliminated by the harder clear coating, but the factory paint is protected by the thick outer Optimum coating.

Here are a few facts when considering which ceramic protection is right for you.
The similarities and differences in coatings available on the market are quite striking. All true coatings are ceramic based, ceramic being a term meaning inorganic. Organics such as sealants are carbon based and as such wear away over time, ceramic in itself is permanent, being as it’s inorganic.
Coatings can be characterized by their silicon content (not silicone), and 2 principal variations of silicon are used. Silicon Carbide, SiC, and the most common is Silicon Dioxide (others such as Titanium Dioxide are also used, but not regularly) Opti-Coat Pro (OCP) is the only coating available that harnesses the strengths of Silicon Carbide (sometimes referred to as ceramic, industrial diamonds and carborundum). Unlike SiO2 based ceramic sealants the SiC based coating actually bonds to the paint and the SiC is formed as a chemical reaction in that process, not by having Nano particles of the ceramic floating in a resin. SiC is superior to SiO2 ceramic sealants in terms of chemical resistance and has a melting point of 2,730 °C (4,950 °F;3,000 K.
Sometimes marketed as glass, quartz or ceramic and in all cases that’s true. SiO2 is suspended in a resin in the form of Nano particles of Silicon Dioxide, and the resins suspend this in a film over the paint. SiO2 has a melting point of 1,600 °C (2,910 °F; 1,870 K). Since these “coatings” are resin based, they are more accurately termed Ceramic Sealants, and unlike a true coating, they are not permanent.
Opti-Coat Pro is unique in many ways because of this fundamental difference in chemistry. Opti-Coat Pro becomes one with the paint instead of suspending nano particles of a harder substance in a resin. This gives Opti-Coat Pro far superior chemical resistance, as the chemical must break down the SiC, and not break down a resin holding SiO2 nano particles. OCP is harder than ceramic sealants, but no coating is scratch proof. To obtain maximum strength many ceramic sealants require heat curing and multiple layers, with OCP that’s not required. SiO2 ceramic sealants obtain their maximum gloss immediately, and that gloss drops off over time, Opti-Coat Pro obtains it’s maximum gloss once the polymerization process is completed (roughly 7 days). Opti-Coat Pro will maintain its gloss over time, SiO2 laced ceramic sealants start losing their gloss through oxidation and it continues to drop, requiring the need to add periodically some form of resin to maintain or restore the gloss and protection. Many of these ceramic sealants that call themselves coatings require re-application of their product, or a weaker variation of it as part of their maintenance to keep the warranty valid.

Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl Coating
Maximum UV Protection for Leather & Vinyl
Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl creates a hydrophobic coating with concentrated UV absorbers to protect leather seats and dashboards from premature ageing, cracking, and other damage such as colour transfer and staining of leather seats.
Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl is an acrylic hybrid resin that creates a strong, yet flexible coating for these softer surfaces and high resistance to chemicals. The coating contains special matting agents to maintain the original factory appearance of the surface it is applied to.
How Does it Work?
Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl is applied liberally to the surface and left to be absorbed by the substrate. The resin penetrates the surface to produce a permanent bond within the material. This is particularly important for leather seats that are subjected to constant wear and abrasion. As the coating soaks deep within the leather, it is resistant to be removed through normal use.
Superhydrophobic, Long term Protection.
Opti-Guard Fabric creates a superhydrophobic coating to protect fabric seats, carpets, fabric convertible tops and other textile surfaces. When liquids come in contact with Opti-Guard Fabric and closed loop textiles, the surface repels the substance and liquids roll off without penetrating or staining the material. Additionally, for materials with an open structure such as plush carpets where liquids are able to penetrate the surface, the coating prevents any penetration of the fibres and permanent staining of the material
How Does it Work?
Opti-Guard Fabric forms a strong bond with the fibres to prevent removal during cleaning. This bond between the substrate and the coating creates a surface that produces a very high contact angle when in contact with liquids. Due to this extremely high contact angle, liquids are unable to attach or penetrate the fibres and are repelled in droplets. When combined with Optimum Fabric Cleaner & Protectant, the Opti-Guard system provides permanent protection for these surfaces.
Improve Driver Visibility with Opti-Glass Pro!
Opti-Glass Pro is designed to chemically bond to silica based surfaces such as automotive glass, to produce a superhydrophobic film. Opti-Glass Pro will increase driver visibility by repelling water that runs off the windscreen at low speeds, and also reduce stone chipping. Compared to silicone based glass sealants, Opti-Glass Pro has far superior durability and resistance to wiper abrasion.
How Does it Work?
Opti-Glass Pro works by creating an extremely high contact angle between the glass surface and water. This superhydrophobic surface means that the water droplets struggle to cling to the windscreen and roll off, or are blown off as air passes over the vehicle. This enhances the performance of your windscreen wipers, or negates the need to use them at all!
Additionally, Opti-Glass Pro can increase windscreen chip resistance by increasing what is known as the coefficient of friction. This means, as an object comes in contact with the windscreen at speed, it is more likely to be deflected than to damage the glass.
